The World Snow and Mountain Tourism Congress is an initiative of the seven parishes and the Government of Andorra, in conjunction with the World Tourism Organisation, whose aim is to create an ongoing forum of debate on the development and sustainability of tourism in mountainous regions. Held biennially, it is hosted by the parishes on a rotating basis.
Andorra Telecom has taken part as a collaborating entity, taking responsibility for the technological infrastructure required to host a Congress that has become an essential event for experts and operators involved in snow and mountain tourism.
Since it began in 1998, the Congress has dealt with the most-pressing issues of the day, thanks to the analysis of tourist and social trends, the economic situation and the development of communication and analysis tools.
This, and the ever-increasing number of participants year after year, is why the World Snow and Mountain Tourism Congress of Andorra has become the leading international forum for exchanging knowledge on the trends, tools and opportunities in tourism development in mountainous regions.
The latest edition of the Congress was held in March 2016 in Sant Julià, focusing on sports tourism in mountain destinations.
