The first edition of the funding session for Andorra Telecom's business incubator/accelerator was attended by a significant number of investors. Around fifty funding experts from banks, family offices, venture capital or business angels took part in the NIU Demo Day held on Monday in a central hotel in the Andorran capital.

A total of nine start-ups presented their technological projects, seeking financial support that will allow them to launch new products and services onto the market. NIU currently houses a total of seven projects. Of these, four are sufficiently developed to participate in this first funding session: Aparkand, Rocket Center, e-beat and Telcap. The other five start-ups that participated in the Demo Day are not from NIU, but from entrepreneurs who are from Andorra or have connections to the country.

The General Director of Andorra Telecom, Jordi Nadal, expressed his satisfaction with the response to this first NIU funding session. Nadal pointed out that Demo Day is an excellent stage for the world of technological entrepreneurship, and an opportunity both for the start-ups and investors. “In Andorra, we have talent on the one hand, and on the other capital prepared to help with the development of start-ups. This forum needs to be an opportunity to put the two in touch”, stated Nadal, who also thanked foreign investors for coming to Andorra to participate.

The Director of Andorra Telecom also stated that the telecommunications operator needs to become one of the main actors in favouring the development of the country’s information technology sector.

Five minutes were given for the presentation of projects, with an additional five minutes for questions.

APARKAND

TELCAP

This is a tool for telecommunications operators that monitors the capacity of networks and future dimensioning needs. NIMA WORLD
