Andorra Telecom and ISACA organize a seminar on quantum computing and cybersecurity
Andorra Telecom and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) are organizing a seminar aimed at evaluating the possibilities offered by quantum computing, and the challenge it poses for cybersecurity.
Scientists from all over the world are working on quantum technology, which involves a computing system designed to revolutionize computers with machines that are millions of times faster than current technologies.
The event, under the name Andorra Quantum Valley, will start at 12:00 noon on Monday 27 at Husa Center Hotel. The event will be inaugurated by the Andorran Secretary for Civil Service and Administration Reform, Antoni Rodríguez Angrill. Rodríguez will introduce the lecture offered by José Ignacio Latorre, Professor in Quantum Physics at the University of Barcelona, entitled “Computing and quantum cybersecurity”.
The second lecture will be given by Alfonso Rubio, General Director of Entanglement Partners, and will be entitled “Quantum Technology: practical applications and business opportunities”. The two speakers will then take part in a round table discussion with the Director of Security and Control at Andorra Telecom, Cesar Marquina, and the General Director of Dekalan, Ferran Martínez. The President of the Quantum World Association (QWA), Òscar Sala, will serve as moderator.
The event will be brought to a close by the President of ISACA Barcelona, Joan Barceló, and the General Director of Andorra Telecom, Jordi Nadal, at 2:00 pm.
Cèsar Marquina explained that this seminary is a magnificent opportunity to present quantum computing, “which in very few years will lead a global technological revolution. With its capacity for processing, it will shatter existing limitations and will be extremely invaluable in many areas, like the world of finances, physics or medicine.” Nevertheless, the potential of this new technology represents a threat for the confidentiality of data as we know it today, because of the ability to decipher encrypting algorithms. “But at the same time, it can serve as an important protection for our information if it’s developed at the same speed as quantum encrypting”, stated Marquina.
