Roaming Plan charges fall in Europe and the United States
Roaming charges throughout Europe will be cheaper from July onwards. Andorra Telecom has extended the benefits of the Roaming Spain plan to a large number of European countries and the United States.
The Forfet Roaming or Roaming Plan, as the product is called, includes different voice and data plans which, each at a cost of 1.50 euros, entitle users to 60 minutes of calls or 100 MB of data consumption.
The territorial expansion covers the countries of the European Union plus Norway, Switzerland and the United States, with the exception of Cyprus, Croatia, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
Carles Casadevall, spokesman for Andorra Telecom, emphasises that the reduction of charges throughout Europe forms part of the company’s aim to promote roaming connectivity, a policy which led to a general fall in rates last July and, in the case of data, price decreases ranging from 95% to 99%.
In this respect, Casadevall points out how Andorra Telecom’s roaming policy has been well-received. In the year prior to the reduction of rates, customers consumed 237,837 MB while roaming, while over the last year this figure has multiplied by 30, with a volume totalling 7.1 million MB.
Signing up for the service free of charge is very simple. You can subscribe to the plan by calling 115 or by paying a visit to the agency. It is activated upon use and remains operative until 11:59 p.m. on the day in question. The Internet or voice plan is automatically renewed when the customer uses up 100 MB or the 60 minutes of calls.
The plan involves savings of 70% in the case of Internet use and 94% for telephone calls. It can also be used during the same day in more than one country.
Dual reduction in the United States
The case of the United States is a special one. In addition to the application of the benefits of the Roaming Plan, there has been a general reduction of roaming charges. For example, the price of a MB has fallen from 10 euros, the rate applied until now, to 0.05 euros, a fall of 99 per cent. The cost is further reduced by the use of the Roaming Plan.
