DAZN has acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights to Formula 1 and will be offering all the coverage of the 2021 World Championship on its platform in Spain, and Movistar+ in Andorra will continue to offer the races to its customers through the DAZN F1 channel, starting on 1 March.

Thanks to the signing of Carlos Sainz by Ferrari and the return of Fernando Alonso to the World Championship, Movistar+ and DAZN viewers will experience one of the most eagerly awaited seasons in recent years.

Movistar+, the leading entertainment platform in Spain and Andorra, and DAZN, the leading global platform for live and on-demand sports streaming, have reached an agreement to offer more sports content to their customers. The alliance involves the distribution of DAZN content through new channels on Movistar+. Thanks to the agreement, DAZN acquires the exclusive rights to broadcasting the F1 World Championship in Spain until 2023, an event that can be enjoyed on DAZN's OTT in Spain, and through the new DAZN F1 channel, which will be available for customers of both platforms from 1 March for the entire 2021 season.

 

This agreement will integrate content from the DAZN platform on Movistar+ in Andorra throughout this year. Movistar's new alliance joins those already established with other content providers and reaffirms Movistar as a leader in the entertainment market in Spain and Andorra with an unrivalled range of sports programming. DAZN, which is already present in more than 200 countries and territories, closed strategic collaboration deals in 2020 with carriers and pay-TV operators such as Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom and Telefónica O2 in Germany, Vodafone in Italy and KDDI in Japan, in order to provide the experience and access to all sports fans.

Movistar+ customers in Andorra who subscribe to Total Plus and already have Formula 1 content will be able to access DAZN content starting Thursday, 21st January, through the new channels DAZN 1 (channel 231) and DAZN 2 (channel 232), plus other multi-event channels that will be added to cover all competitions. Among the top competitions offered by DAZN are the Premier League, the MotoGP World Championship, Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, the Copa del Rey, UFC, CONMEBOL Libertadores, EuroCup basketball, the WTA circuit and the Coppa Italia.

Carles Casadevall, spokesman for Andorra Telecom, highlights the importance of being able to have the following content: “We are very pleased to be able to offer this content to our customers as, until today, DAZN could not be seen in Andorra. The fact that we can have access to the EuroLeague and EuroCup basketball, where we can see MoraBanc Andorra, plus the Copa del Rey, Premier League football and the MotoGP championship, gives us probably the best sports line-up since we started marketing fibre-optic television”.
