The periodic visits of the Tour de France have become a great summer event that packs in tourists and natives alike who have a passion for cycling, not to mention the riders themselves, team members, organisers and the press who follow the tour caravan.
Once again, in 2016 Andorra has had the privilege of welcoming another stage arrival in the most prestigious cycling race in the world, a great media showcase. And once again it counted on the support of Andorra Telecom, who gives its all to this event in order to guarantee the maximum coverage and connectivity for all those taking part.
The Tour stage, 184 kilometres in all, between Viella and La Coma d'Arcalis was held on 10 July and the winner was Tom Dumoulin, cyclist on the Giant-Alpecin team. The following day was a rest day, and on the 12th, the caravan left Escaldes-Engordany toward Revel, as part of a 198 km stage.
Previous visits of the Tour de France took place in 1964, 1993, 1997 and 2009, and the winners were Julio Jiménez, Oliverio Rincón, Jan Ullrich and Brice Felliu, respectively.
