The second NiU investment day to take place
Andorra Telecom's business incubator Demo Day will take place on 23 November
The date for the NiU (Andorra Telecom's business incubator) Demo Day has been announced. Investors and entrepreneurs have already scheduled their attendance at the event, which will take place on 23 November. From 9 a.m., the Aquarius de Caldea Hall will host the second edition of NiU Demo Day, a forum which allows start-ups to present their projects to a great number of local and foreign investors.
Jordi Nadal, Andorra Telecom’s Chief Executive Officer, has highlighted that “when this forum was being organized the aim was for it to have continuity and the excellent results achieved last year have encouraged us even more.”
The first Demo Day, which took place on 20 November 2017, not only brought together 9 innovative projects and around 50 financial experts from banks, family offices, venture capital funds and business angels, it also managed to raise capital of 415,000 euros.
The head of NiU, Miquel Gouarré, pointed out that much of this success came from the interest generated by the participating start-ups. “What we have seen in the past means we are sure that the companies presented at the new Demo Day will do so with quality initiatives”. For Gouarré, it is very important that investors find stimulating, well-presented and viable projects, and at the same time, start-ups view it as an excellent platform for seeking funding. “The reactions of those attending the last edition allowed us to see that we could find a balance between the interests of the two parties”, he stated.
The Demo Day will have the same format as the last edition. A welcoming session by the organizers will be the starting point for the presentation of the projects. Entrepreneurs will have ten minutes slots, five minutes to describe their project and five more minutes to answer questions and convince the potential investors of the viability of their proposals.
Currently, those in charge at the NiU are in the process of selecting the six to eight start-ups which will take part in the Demo Day. Just like last year, the final selection will be decided on by both NiU and external entrepreneurs.
Funding is one of the fundamental barriers for innovation projects. Jordi Nadal pointed out that the Demo Day should not just be a lever for the companies in the Andorra Telecom incubator, but for any other technology-based projects.
