Andorra's Ordino School wins the Micro First Lego League
The fourth Micro First Lego League, organized by Andorra Telecom, was held on Wednesday afternoon at the Illa Carlemany cinemas. A total of 56 boys and girls in 4th Form secondary-level schools (15-16 years of age) took part in the international robotics event, divided into ten teams from the Sagrada Família, Janer, Ordino, Encamp and Santa Coloma Schools.
Finally, after an hour and a half of competition, victory in the robotics demonstration went to the Ballroom team from the Ordino School in Andorra. The prizes were very evenly distributed, with the Drophunters team the winners in the values category and the Hidroand team from the Janer School in the scientific project.
Education, who expressed his pride in the teams. He stressed that while robotics is the most visually appealing aspect, the competition also values the scientific side, with the presentation of a project on sustainability, dealing with water management and values. “This is the kind of education we like, getting out of the classroom and giving skills to young people by means of projects which really motivate them.”
The panel of judges that evaluated the scientific project comprised Marc Pons, Director of the Actua Tech Foundation and Manager of the OBSA (Observatory for Sustainability of Andorra), and Alan Ward, Head of the new technologies section of the SAC (Andorran Science Society). With regard to the values category, the jury comprised Sílvia Bonet from the General Council and Josep Chisvert, Rector of Sant Julià de Lòria.
The robotics test was judged by the engineers Guillem Santacreu, Mario Giménez and Manel Quintana.
