Good performances by Andorran teams in the WRO Spanish final
The teams finished in well-deserved eighth and tenth positions in the competition, which was held in Platja d’Aro
The World Robot Olympiad is still in progress. Last weekend, the two teams which won the Andorran competition, organised by Andorra Telecom last June, travelled to the town of Platja d’Aro in Girona to compete against the best Spanish teams.
The Mrloop team took part in the Elementary category, finishing the competition in 8th place out of the 18 teams taking part. In the Junior category, the Noobsalcub team finished the competition in 10th place out of a total of 21 teams.
On Saturday afternoon the participants spent their time calibrating the robots and performing on-site trials in the Sports Hall, the competition venue. Sunday’s session began with the robots being assembled. The opening ceremony, at 11 a.m., was followed by the competition, with the best entries being chosen over five rounds.
The WRO is an international competition which aims to introduce young people to technology, engineering and innovation in a fun, recreational manner. The organisation invites the participants to build a robot that will to overcome a challenge.
Through organisation of the World Robot Olympiad and the Micro First Lego League, Andorra Telecom encourages Andorran schoolchildren to learn about Robotics.
