Eight teams will compete in the seventh final of the World Robotic Olympiad Andorra Telecom.
Despite the difficulties we’ve gone through this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this Saturday will witness the seventh Andorran final of the World Robotic Olympiad Andorra Telecom, abiding by the safety measures established by the Government. The prestigious international robotics competition promotes the knowledge of robotics among children aged between 6 and 18 in a recreational way. This year there will be a total of 8 teams participating in the different categories, 2 of which come from La Seu d’Urgell.
The Andorran competition is divided into four categories (WeDo, for children aged between 6 and 10, Star, for children aged between 7 and 12, Elementary, for children aged between 10 and 15, and Junior, for children aged between 16 and 18 years).
This year’s global theme is the sustainable use of energy resources applied to different areas such as the home and the car industry. The challenges in the different categories propose concepts ranging from the modernisation of homes to make them more sustainable to smart car parks for charging electric cars.
The competition will be held at the facilities of Loopa Aula Tecnológica, which has been divided into two time slots to ensure compliance with the protocols established by the Ministry of Health. The Elementary and Junior categories will compete from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and the Star and WeDo categories will do so from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Andorra Telecom supports the promotion of robotics and innovation among the country’s children and teenagers through the Micro First Lego League competitions, which bring together teams from different schools, and the WRO, in which robotics clubs compete.
