This evening, Jordi Torres, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Andorra Telecom, and Jordi Nadal, the company’s Managing Director, accompanied by Conxita Marsol, the Consul of Andorra la Vella, presented the awards for the five projects in the final of the competition for ideas for the company’s new headquarters.

In his speech, Jordi Torres emphasised that “a public building has a dual responsibility; it must respond to its internal needs, but it also has to serve to improve the environment in which it is located. We’re sure that Node will be able to add all the possible synergies to meet the challenges and expectations that a building of this nature entails for the public company, the commercial hub, the parish and the people.

According to Conxita Marsol, the Consul General, Andorra Telecom’s new offices will ensure a significant daily flow of visitors, thus contributing to the revitalisation of Prada Ramon (Riberaygua and Travesseres), an area that brings together one fifth of the parish’s businesses (about 700) and constitutes the subject of a comprehensive reactivation plan with improvements such as the conversion of the streets into pedestrian areas.

Xavier Orteu gave a speech after collecting the first prize to explain the architectural proposal. “Node, explained Orteu, has come into being as a materialisation of a change of mentality, not just in architecture but in everything that surrounds us. A philosophy that’s based on a new way of seeing the world, prioritising human well-being, sustainability and respect for nature as well as capitalising on cutting-edge technology.”
The architect remarked that “Node is based on a very human concept, namely empathy for users, visitors and neighbours, but particularly for society. The essence of the new architecture, according to Orteu, lies in putting buildings at the service of the people.”

As for the location of the building, Orteu defined it as “a strategic and complex point, and the proposal prioritises its adaptation to the place, becoming a link between the different environments and flows, minimising its volumetric impact, clearing the dense urban fabric and expanding the outdoor space.”

The building makes the most of different bioclimatic strategies to achieve excellent energy efficiency while using the country’s typical vegetation on the roofs and terraces and in the squares.



The interior spaces are open, dynamic and flexible, allowing their adaptability to new needs over time. Priority has been given to pleasant interiors, creating workspaces and interrelationships with vegetation and natural lighting, with wood being used as a raw material for construction, with a focus on sustainability and generating natural spaces. “In this regard, we want to make positive architecture in Andorra”, concluded Orteu.

Attendees at the event were able to learn more about the nine projects submitted to the competition for ideas for Andorra Telecom’s new headquarters, which were exhibited in the same room.
