The Rubik’s Cube Tournament will include a workshop beforehand by expert Pablo Oshiro

The training will be held on 9 November as a preamble to the competition itself on 30 November, with 60 participants expected
The fourth Andorran National Rubik Cube Tournament is coming up, and there are lots of new features. The organisation, the Pyrénées group and Andorra Telecom, in conjunction with the Rubik’s Cube Club of Catalonia, has decided to complement the competition with the training side of things. So expert Pablo Oshiro will be offering a workshop, which will be open to the public, on 9 November, from 6 pm to 8 pm, at the FNAC Forum. Oshiro has been double champion of Spain in the Megaminx mode and has a lot of experience in the world of competition.

The competition will be held in the same space on Saturday 30 November with sixty participants expected, mostly of Andorran, Spanish and French nationality, and it will be the only official championship to be held within the Principality this year.

The event, which is part of the international calendar of the World Cube Association, will feature ten different disciplines: 3x3x3 Cube, 2x2x2 Cube, 4x4x4 Cube, 3x3x3 Blindfolded, 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, 3x3x3 One-Handed, Clock, Pyraminx, Skewb and Square-1. The commitment to the more traditional variants is thus maintained without foregoing the spectacle offered by the blindfolded or one-handed methods.

The best Andorran in the 3x3x3 Cube category will be proclaimed champion of Andorra, a title gained last year by Arnau Ferrer, who also won in the second year the championship was held.
The tournament was announced this Wednesday in a press release by Pyrénées Marketing Director, Ronald Cabrera, and Andorra Telecom spokesman, Carlos Casadevall.
Cabrera said that he thought the event was well-established and highlighted the warm reception it had in previous years, "because it’s not just a show for lovers of this game, but for the general public as well”. Carlos Casadevall, for his part, emphasised the importance of including training in the event calendar.

Andorra Telecom registers this collaboration in support of training activities in science and technology already having celebrated robotics events aimed at young people such as the Micro First Lego League (MFLL) or the World Robotic Olympia (WRO). As for Pyrénées, the organisation of this tournament is part of the FNAC project to revitalise cultural and leisure activities.

Participants can register until Thursday, 28 November at https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/competitions/Andorra2019. The registration fee is 2 euros.
